Mobile dog grooming in San Clemente: how the referral works
OC Mobile Dog Grooming does not groom dogs. We take your dog's details, such as breed, weight, coat, temperament, and the service you want, and pass them to an independent mobile groomer who covers your part of town. Your groomer then contacts you with a quote and a time.
The van parks at your home and your dog is groomed inside it, one dog at a time. Most visits take 1 to 2 hours. Most vans carry their own water and power, and your groomer lets you know beforehand if they need an outlet or a particular spot. Prefer to talk? Call (820) 386-5188.
From the pier to the hills
San Clemente is the southernmost city in Orange County, bordered by Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, and Camp Pendleton. Near the San Clemente Pier and Avenida Del Mar, many homes sit on steep, narrow streets lined with red tile roofs, and parking can be tight. Further inland, Talega and Forster Ranch are newer planned neighborhoods with wider driveways, HOAs, and in some places gates.
Either way, a groomer needs a level space about a car-and-a-half long. Tell us whether that is your driveway, the curb, or a guest spot, and add any gate code or HOA rules to the quote form.
Beach dogs and surf-town coats
- Sand and salt. A walk near the beach trail leaves grit in the coat and salt on the skin. A thorough bath and blow-dry clears both.
- Damp mornings. Coastal fog can keep a thick coat from drying, and damp fur close to the skin tangles fast. Labradors and Goldens benefit from a de-shedding treatment when they blow their coat.
- Curly coats. Doodles and poodle mixes usually need a full groom every six to eight weeks to stay free of mats.
Getting here on the 5
Interstate 5 is the main route in and out of town, and it is also the main route between Orange County and San Diego. Weekend beach traffic and commute hours both slow it down. Groomers usually give an arrival window, and some cover the city on set days of the week, so booking a little ahead helps.
Cost of a groom at your door
Here are typical Orange County ranges. Your groomer confirms the price at quote.
- Full groom: $120 to $160 small, $140 to $190 medium, $165 to $250 large.
- Bath and brush: $90 to $125 small, $110 to $145 medium, $130 to $175 large.
- Puppy's first groom: $90 to $130, or $100 to $140 for large-breed puppies.
Nails are included with a bath or groom. Dematting is about $15 to $20 per 15 minutes, and doodles or thick double coats often run $15 to $30 more. Because San Clemente sits at the edge of the county, some groomers add a travel fee. Prices vary by groomer, since OC Mobile Dog Grooming is a referral service and each independent groomer sets their own rates. The cost guide explains more.
