Mobile Dog Grooming in San Juan Capistrano, CA

Mission town, ranch lots, and everything between

San Juan Capistrano grew up around Mission San Juan Capistrano, and the Los Rios Historic District next to it holds some of the oldest homes in California. Away from downtown, the city opens up into large lots, horse properties, and riding trails, with tract neighborhoods, condos, and mobile home parks mixed in.

That variety changes how a van gets set up. A wide ranch driveway is easy. A gravel or dirt drive may be uneven, so tell your groomer, since most vans need a reasonably level spot about a car-and-a-half long. In a mobile home park or condo complex, ask the office where a service vehicle may park and include it in your request.

Dogs who live around horses

Equestrian neighborhoods come with barn dogs, and barn dogs come with dust, burrs, and the occasional roll in something unpleasant. Long-coated breeds like Australian Shepherds and Border Collies can tangle quickly behind the ears and on the back legs. If the coat has gone past brushing, a groomer offering matted coat care works through it, or suggests a short clip when that is kinder to the dog.

Trail walks along San Juan Creek bring their own dust, and from spring into summer, foxtails in the grass. Your groomer checks ears, paws, and armpits as part of the visit.

Mobile dog grooming in San Juan Capistrano, start to finish

1. You share your dog's breed, weight, coat condition, temperament, and where the van can park.
2. We pass that to an independent mobile groomer who covers your area.
3. Your groomer contacts you with a quote and a time window.
4. On the day, the van parks at your home and your dog is groomed inside it, one dog at a time.

A groom usually takes 1 to 2 hours depending on size and coat. Most vans carry their own water and run on a generator or a cord to an outside outlet. Your groomer says ahead of time if anything is needed from you. To describe your dog by phone, call (820) 386-5188.

Timing around the 5 and Ortega Highway

Interstate 5 runs straight through town, and Ortega Highway heads east from it toward the mountains. Both back up at commute hours, and downtown gets busy with visitors to the Mission on weekends. Groomers usually give an arrival window instead of a set minute, and midday slots tend to hold closer to plan.

What grooming at home usually costs

These are typical Orange County ranges, and your groomer confirms the price at quote. A bath and brush usually runs $90 to $125 for small dogs, $110 to $145 for medium dogs, and $130 to $175 for dogs over 60 pounds. A full groom runs $120 to $160, $140 to $190, and $165 to $250 by the same sizes. A de-shedding treatment is about $110 to $220 depending on size. Nails are included with a bath or groom.

Dematting is usually about $15 to $20 per 15 minutes, and doodles or thick double coats often cost $15 to $30 more. Some groomers add a travel fee outside their usual area. Prices vary by groomer, because OC Mobile Dog Grooming is a referral service rather than a grooming business. The pricing page has the full table.
